Principals

Jim Armitage, Arcadia

Jim has been an Insurance Salesman since 1981. He has specialized in Commercial Insurance Protection. Jim earned the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter designation, CPCU, in 1986. He heads the Strategic Planning Committee for Arroyo Insurance Services. He is the founding partner of Arroyo Insurance Services and its first president in 1986. Jim began his insurance carrier as a commercial underwriter and marketing representative with Aetna Casualty & Surety Company in 1978. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a minor in Marketing and International Management from the University of Southern California.

Casey Dodge, Torrance

Casey Dodge is President of Dodge Insurance Services, Inc., located in Torrance, California, and became affiliated with Arroyo in 2006. He specializes in all types of business and commercial insurance including sales, marketing and service. Casey began his insurance career with The Traveler’s Insurance Company in 1967. In 1977, he became a founder and principal of Dodge, Warren & Peters Insurance Services, Inc., which was subsequently sold to a publicly held corporation. He graduated in 1967 from Cal State University Northridge with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He regularly attends industry related courses, seminars, workshops and conferences on a multitude of insurance related topics. Casey was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, and is married with two children. He is a member of several well respected clubs in Southern California, The Avalon Tuna Club, The King Harbor Marlin Club, and The Wilshire Country Club.

Robyn Grandy, AAI, Pasadena - Lake Ave.

Robyn is a licensed insurance property and casualty agent in the State of California. She got her start in the industry came at a young age while assisting her parents in the family insurance agency. Robyn completed her Bachelor´s degree at California State University, Los Angeles. Robyn has engineered master policy programs and overall risk analysis for our affordable housing clients. She actively consults with our clients regarding resident services and outreach offered at the properties and extending into local communities. Robyn has served on a national board for the Camp Fire Boys & Girls youth organization, and is currently the Secretary and Director of Sponsorship for the Seal Beach Chamber of Commerce. She is passionate about promoting small business in Orange County and quality of life for the community and visitors.

Bill Knauf, Los Angeles

Bill Knauf is President of Knauf Insurance Agency and has been involved in insurance for 22 years. He received his Charter Property and Casualty Underwriting designation (CPCU) in 1991. Bill is familiar with all lines of insurance from personal homeowners and auto insurance to his current emphasis in property and casualty insurance for businesses. As President, Bill heads the Executive Management team for Knauf Insurance Agency.

Robert Knauf, Los Angeles

Bob Knauf has specialized in Commercial Insurance since 1982. His client base includes all types of businesses including manufacturers, high tech, contractors and nonprofits. Bob was a principal of Knauf Insurance Agency, which joined Arroyo Insurance Services in 1999. He graduated from Cal State Chico in 1978 with a BS in Finance. Bob has served on various insurance company advisory boards as well as the local and state boards of IBA West, an industry association. He was raised in Glendale, married with two children and enjoys serving on various nonprofit boards in the community.

James T. McInerny, Pasadena

Jim brokers a wide range of insurance products for his commercial and personal clients. Although essentially a generalist in his field, Jim also specializes in agricultural risks, crop insurance, inland marine and ocean marine. After obtaining an A.B. in History from Stanford University and trying out stints in education, law, and filmmaking, Jim joined his father Bob at Day, Simonds & McInerny in 1980. That firm evolved into Arroyo Insurance Services, Inc., for which Jim has served as Principal, Executive Director, and President. He also has served as Trustee of The Chandler School and Director of The Oak Tree Foundation.

Keith Moreland, Redlands

Keith has been an Insurance Broker since 1988. He specialize Commercial Insurance for a variety of industries including Construction, Manufacturing, Wholesale and Service Industries. Keith has a BS in Finance from USC and a MBA from CSUSB. He earned his Certified Insurance Counselor designation in 1991. Keith has served on the producer councils for several Insurance carriers as well as the state boards of PIA and WIAA and is currently on the board of WIAA Insurance Services. Keith joined Arroyo Insurance Services in 2003.

Bruce Newsom, AAI, Pasadena - Lake Ave.

Bruce started working with insurance when he first joined the family insurance business in 1984. Within 8 years Bruce became Vice President of BCV in 1992 and became President of the firm at the close of 2004. Strong technical knowledge in the industry is Bruce´s passion. Early in his career Bruce began his work with non-profit developers of affordable housing and established himself as a leader in insurance and risk management for these organizations. With over 25 years of hands on experience, he has become a renowned expert and speaker on the topic of commercial insurance exposures and construction risk management. Bruce is a native of the Pasadena area and attended Pasadena City College, Rio Hondo College, and California State University at Los Angeles. Bruce is also an accomplished craftsman and is often working on his own construction projects, or as a volunteer for others. He is an active leader in a community church, and enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons.

Bill Olhasso, Los Angeles

Bill Olhasso has 28 years of experience in commercial insurance and is a principal at Knauf Insurance Agency. As a member of the Executive Management team, he helps set company and marketing strategy. He is also responsible for sales, marketing and service of large property and casualty accounts. Bill hass a great deal of experience with professional liability for law firms.

Dan Pondella, CPCU, CLU Principal, Sherman Oaks

Dan started Pondella Insurance Brokers in 1969 after working for Sentry Insurance Company. It was in these formative years that Dan decided that his passion was being an exclusive insurance broker in the business insurance market. He earned his Charter Property and Casualty Underwriter designation (CPCU) in 1977 and the Chartered Life Underwriter designation (CLU) in 1978. He attended Woodberry University majoring in finance. Dan served as Chairman of the Board for Notre Dame High School. He was friends with several of the owners of Arroyo Insurance Services, Inc., and in 1997, became an owner and he heads up the marketing and sales operations.

Jim Simonds, Arcadia

Jim has been an Insurance Broker since 1983. He is one of the founding partners of Arroyo Insurance Services which was established in 1986. Jim began his insurance career in 1975 as an underwriter trainee for the Crum and Forster Insurance Company. Jim has served as Arroyo's President and has been involved in the growth and planning of the Arroyo organization. Jim is a graduate of Sonoma State University and the Catalina Island School. He is involved in numerous insurance organizations as well as the Los Angeles Rotary Club and the Catalina Island Conservancy. Jim and his family reside in Glendale, California.

Jeff Scott, Arcadia

Craig Tom, Arcadia

Craig started his insurance career with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in 1984, where he was a Business Sales Representative and Resident Manager. From 1991 to 2005 he was a Producer and Partner at Dodge, Warren & Peters Insurance Services in Torrance. In 2005, Craig joined Arroyo and is currently the President of Craig Tom Insurance Services, Inc. in Arcadia. Craig services clients in the manufacturing, distribution/wholesale, restaurant, real estate and service industries. Craig graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration – Finance from California State University, Los Angeles in 1982. Craig is active in the Arcadia Community and is a member of the Recreation and Parks Commission. Craig is married, has three sons and resides in Arcadia.

John S. Williams, Glendale

John has been in the Insurance Business since 1973. He began his business career as a Life Agent for the Massachusetts Mutual Life Ins. Co. as well as a Property Casualty Agent for Williams, Hughes & Associates in Los Angeles. In 1979 John purchased Williams, Hughes & Associates and moved to South Pasadena, CA. In 1986 John became one of the original partners of Arroyo Insurance Services, Inc. John maintains a balance between personal & commercial lines for all his clients needs. In 1972 John graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in Business Administration. John has also been involved in many of the local youth sports programs for 20 years.

Ernest G. Lee , San Francisco Bay Area

Ernie has over 30 years experience in employee benefits consulting and administration of healthcare benefits to employers as President and CEO of E.G.Lee & Company Insurance Services, Inc. He is licensed in 44 states and was one of the original General Agents for Blue Shield of California. Ernie has consulted and established administrative services for Wells Fargo Bank’s Medical Savings Accounts and served as a national healthcare fulfillment center for the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB) and General Motors Acceptance Corporation (GMAC). Ernie joined Arroyo Insurance in 2010 to expand its operations into Northern California.
